Richard Luecke Richard Luecke

Richard Luecke (acoustic and classical guitar) got his musical start playing banjo in a folk music quartet while a college student.  Following school and military service, he moved to Minneapolis where he developed an interest in renaissance and baroque music and studied guitar with Michael and Anthony Hauser.

Moving to New England in 1988, Richard’s interests gravitated toward Irish and Scottish airs, many of which he has arranged for the guitar.  More recently, he has followed a related trail into the world of Southern Appalachian “old time” music, where he has studied with picking wizards Josh Goforth, Wayne Henderson, and Steve Kilby.

A resident of Salem, Massachusetts, and a founding member of the now-defunct Free Range Chickens string band (RIP), he plays for contra dances with the Salem Country Orchestra, and for weddings and special events.
